What should I bring to the STK?

For a regular STK, the vehicle registration certificate (the small registration card) is enough. If you had the emissions tested beforehand at a separate station, bring the test report too – it is valid for 30 days. The regulations do not require the large vehicle logbook, an ID or a power of attorney.

What documents do I need for a regular STK?

  • vehicle registration certificate (the small registration card), or the certificate of the vehicle logbook
  • for a part fitted later, such as a tow bar, its technical certificate and statement
  • emission test report, if you had the emissions tested beforehand at a separate emission test station

The list of documents is set by Annex 2 to Decree No. 211/2018 Coll.

Do I need the large vehicle logbook?

The large logbook is not among the documents for a regular inspection and has not been issued since 2024. If you have it, bringing it along does no harm.

Do I have to go to the STK in person as the owner?

No. Anyone who brings the vehicle to the station can attend the inspection. The decree does not require a power of attorney or an ID.

What to bring for a registration check?

The registration certificate and documents for any parts fitted later. A registration check is needed mainly when the vehicle is transferred to a new owner and when an imported vehicle is registered.

What to bring for the inspection of an imported vehicle?

Proof of technical roadworthiness or a certificate of conformity and the foreign registration certificate, or a vehicle logbook if one was issued in the country of origin. The inspection before registration is mandatory for vehicles from outside the EU and for EU vehicles whose inspection deadline has expired or that lack proof of it.

And for a repeat inspection?

The same documents as for a regular inspection. If the defect was found by a roadside check or an inspection abroad, add its report.

Frequently asked questions

The decree requires the registration certificate. Bring the original you normally drive with.

Do I need to bring my ID card?

The decree does not list an identity document among the documents for the vehicle inspection.

How long is the emission test report valid?

If more than 30 days pass between the emission test and the vehicle inspection at the STK, the test is not taken into account and must be repeated.
